The SOTA Movement
The SOTA Movement is Minnesota’s street dance festival—an immersive, multi-day celebration of Hip Hop and street dance culture. Produced by Maia Maiden Productions, the festival brings together artists, creators, and supporters from Minnesota and beyond for performances, workshops, and high-energy dance battles. Through events like ROOTED and the Uprizing KRUMP Battle, The SOTA Movement creates a space where community, creativity, and culture come together to honor the global impact of street dance.

ROOTED: Hip Hop Choreographers' Evening
ROOTED: Hip Hop Choreographers’ Evening is an award-winning performance celebrating the foundations and evolution of Hip Hop dance. ROOTED brings together some of the Twin Cities’ most talented choreographers—from emerging artists to established innovators—to present original work on stage. The show honors the history of Hip Hop culture while spotlighting the creativity, skill, and storytelling of today’s dance community.

Sistah Solo | Being Brothas
Sistah Solo | Being Brothas is a multidisciplinary performance series that centers the voices and lived experiences of artists through solo work. Featuring powerful performances by women and men of color, the program creates space for dancers and performers to explore identity, culture, and personal storytelling through movement and artistic expression.

Freestyle, Hook, and Repeat: The Art of Hip Hop Innovation
Created during Maia Maiden’s guest curatorship at the Walker Arts Center, this film project highlights the creativity and innovation of Minnesota’s Hip Hop community. Featuring luminaries Desdamona, Herbert “FairWarning” Johnson III, Neil Taylor (True Headz Clothing), Roosevelt “DJ Digie” Mansfield III, and Tish Jones (TruArtSpeaks) in collaboration with filmmaker Sherine Onukwuwe.
